Pilates is considered a strength workout for the entire body where quality is more important than quantity! Students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds will learn to work their entire body symmetrically, which will improve posture and core stability.

As you bring your body into balance, you decrease the risk of injury and reduce pain. For this reason, the Pilates method is incorporated into many rehabilitation programs. Clinicians, surgeons, sports medicine clinics and athletic trainers are realizing the positive effects Pilates exercises have on restoring a body back to health.

Pilates is based on the principle that before working the peripheral parts of the body, the core needs to be strong and stable. In fact, stabilization is the first of six Principles of Pilates, that also include control, concentration, flow, breath and precision.Through regular sessions on both the mat and specialized Pilates apparatus, clients seek to develop an equal balance between abdominal and lower back musculature to improve strength, stretch, stamina and stability. Over time, this approach creates a strong foundation from which one can achieve new heights of physical fitness and control, as well as emotional well-being and balance

Pilates Principles

From a Power Pilates perspective, the six principles of Pilates are the most essential qualities of the method. You will understand these principles not by learning them intellectually, but by actualizing them physically. To understand stabilization, for example, you will learn how to stabilize your torso through opposition. And to understand flow, you will learn how one exercise flows seamlessly into the next. In this way, Pilates is not just something you do — it is something you study.
